Five for Friday Linky Party {May 31, 2013}

This is my first time linking up with the Five for Friday crew, but I'm gonna give it a try! 

1. Hung out with my hyper fur-kids on Sunday while working on new clipart.  Well, ok... I admit it.  Keimo isn't all that hyper anymore, but Bella, the youngun' gets him fired up every now and then.  She's so funny... she'll race around the house, running full speed ahead then come back in and jump right into my lap and want some love.  She's such a love bug.  Keimo... well, he's a bit cat like.  (He's a little confused about being a 100lb. dog!) He wants attention when HE wants it and the rest of the time, you should just leave him alone.

2. Went to work on Monday.  Yes, I know it's supposed to be a holiday, but my theory was go on Monday and no one else will be there to bother you.  You might actually get something done.  Now, y'all might think that sounds a little snarky, but if you've ever met me in person, you know that I really love to talk. I spent a lot of years being really quiet and now I'm ready to let it all out!  I talk all the time... I even talk to myself.  A LOT.  Soooooo..... if there's anyone around, especially my favorite custodian (He's a former student who usually works at night and goes to school during the day to be a teacher, but during the summer, he works days! I'm so proud of him!), I won't get a darn thing done!  lol! 

 

3. Wednesday... well, if you read my last post, you know what I did on Wednesday.  It was work, but I had so much fun and I was glad I had the time to help out a friend!  :-) 

4. I had to go pay the yearly license & registration fee for my car yesterday.  :-(  Bye-bye money, but I did get a super awesome new license plate!  Here's a sample of what it looks like!  :-)

5. I did a mini-me for Shelley over at The Perks of Teaching Primary recently.  She sent me a picture that I just couldn't resist posting for everyone.  It seriously cracked me up when I saw how much my little cartoon looked like her!  She gave me permission to share it with you guys!  :-)

Tamara had a fabulous idea for a linky party!  Fun in the sun!  What did you do this week that was just for fun!?!  Regardless of what everyone thinks, teachers do not stop everything and sit around eating bon bons in the summertime.  In fact, most of us keep on working.  Summer is the time to change EVERYTHING for the next year.  In the case of librarians, some of us are even REQUIRED to work during the summer months.  Like me, I have to get a certain number of extended days in... so I did work SOME this week, but I also played a little.  :-)

What did I do for myself this week?  Just for fun?  Well, my idea of fun may not be someone else's.  Lol.  I admit it, I'm a bit weird.  Ok, more than a bit.  Yesterday, I volunteered to go help Greg, from Kindergarten Smorgasboard, move all of his stuff to a new school.  Yeah, I know, that doesn't sound like much fun, but it gave me an excuse to finally meet him in person, a chance to love on his completely adorable dog, Mr. Butters, AND an excuse to go to the big city... Nash-Vegas!  While I was there, we ate at a yummy lunch spot AND I was able to finally score my PLUM Fiestaware (that's the dark color in the picture that almost looks black) that I have been looking for FOREVER.  The picture below is all of my colors...  I'm going to pretend that you care.  lol.  Now all I need is Sunflower and I'm done.  (Yeah right...  when they come out with the new color, Lapis, I'll wind up wanting that one too.  I LOVE color!  I can't help myself... I've wanted these dishes for YEARS & never could afford them... amazing what a sale can do to you!!! I only buy one set at a time! lol)

I am sooooo tired today though.  I really need to get up and go to the library to work on inventory, but my arms feel like they are a mile long. lol  I'll get over it.  I'm a big whiney baby & I know it!

2 New sets! Rockstars and Newspaper

It's late... errrr.... early.  I fell asleep at about 7pm and just woke up.  Man! I hate it when that happens! Oh well, I decided to get my lazy rear end up and share a couple of new TpT store posts with you.  The first is one that I've been working on for a looooooooooong time and I finally finished it.  It's near and dear to my heart, because I've always wanted to be a rockstar!  lol.  (As noted in my header image... he he he) Seriously, I love music!

If I were in a classroom and wanted a theme for the year, this would be it and I created the set with that in mind!  I even know what my attention getter would be...  "I Wanna Rock," would be what I would say... and the kids would respond, "Rock On!" I'd probably even teach them the rock and roll hand sign.  lol...  Yep. I'm a dork.  I'd also have to find as many awesomely bad (clean) 80's rock n' roll songs as I could to play for them during centers or something.  I'm pretty sure they'd love it.  :-)

The next set was a custom set for a buddy.  She needed some cute newspaper writing kids, so I whipped some up!  I have to admit, making this set was more fun than I thought it would be!  :-)

Hobbies for kids

It's that time of the year.  The school year is winding down... maybe you're already out of school.  We are!  You have some time to do a few things that you WANT to do.  What are your hobbies?  Obviously, if you are here, one of them is probably creating products for your classroom... but is that really a hobby?  Well, I think so, because not everyone who teaches creates their own units! 

My hobbies... well, there's the obvious ones: Reading and Drawing.  Then there's some less obvious ones: Playing pool (I'm crummy, but I love it.), photography, and scrapbooking. :-) 

Recently, I was asked to do a set of kids with hobbies.  Maybe you could use these in your classroom!

Happy birthday to me...

It's been a great day & I'm getting ready to go out for a birthday dinner, but before I go, I'm sharing the birthday love. I have marked some of my stuff down even more! Go take a look!

It's that time of year... The time when my 5th graders leave me for middle school. After having them for 6 years, I get a little attached. So, in honor of them I made this set.

Soda Fountain Clip Art... and I have my Internet back!

So... a story first.  I have my internet back. Yay!!! It was almost a catastrophe though.  Bella, my 3 year old white rescue doggie (on the left) is quite a character.  Keimosabi, my more mature fella on the right is pretty much an angel dog.

Anyway, Bella has a funny habit. (Actually, she has quite a few weird habits. lol) Every time I get a package left on my porch, she wants to open it.  The first time, I understood it.  It was some chips that I had ordered because I couldn't get them around here... food.  Dog... powerful nose. I got it.  The second time, I just thought it was because she was mad that I didn't get home until late.  I gave her a lecture and a tiny spanking.  ("No, no, Bella... naughty girl" and I bopped her on the butt with the box.) Now I give up.  She opened my modem! She had it completely out of the box and out of the plastic and laying in the yard!  Thank goodness I got home before it started to rain!  She didn't hurt it, but I guess I need to call the post office and tell them NOT to leave things on my porch anymore! So, this is a long story just to say that I'm so glad Bella didn't eat the modem and now I'm back online! WooHoo! 

Now that I'm back online, I want to share that I posted a new set.  It's a cute little soda fountain set.  It was custom for a friend, but I thought I'd share it on TpT.  Go check it out. Maybe you can think of something to use it for.  Maybe how to make a coke float? Who knows!?!

Greek Mythology Set 2 and I miss my Internet...

Oh how I miss my Internet.  My modem died on Tuesday.  I plan to bury it in the back yard and give it the last rites as soon as I make sure AT&T doesn't want it back.  I'm stuck trying to go other places with horribly irratic WiFi and try to post things, catch up on Facebook, etc.  :-(  I admit it.  I'm addicted.  This is like trying to quit cold turkey.  Thank goodness for smart phones. 

Anyway, I did manage to get a requested set posted today! It's my second set of Greek Mythology stuff! I just love the Poseidon clip.  He's a cutie... and Zeus has his very own cloud with lightning that's a separate image.  :-)  There's a bunch of them included, so take a look.  Maybe you can find something you can use!  They all have blacklines, too.... for all of you that don't have color printers! (Like me... I have to use mine from home for that!)
